Bourne, MA – Martha Sheldon Killed in Fatal Crash on Sagamore Bridge

Bourne, MA (August 11, 2024) – A fatal accident reported in the born area claimed the life of 79-year-old Martha Sheldon. The collision occurred on Friday evening, August 9.

At around 7:00 p.m., 19-year-old Paul Myers was driving on Route 6 W. As he proceeded through the base of the Sagamore Bridge, he attempted to pass the car in front of him illegally. After shifting into the right lane, his vehicle crashed into a Toyota Corolla. The impact of the crash caused the Toyota to strike a curb, spin across the median, and crash into an additional vehicle. One person involved in the accident, identified as Sheldon, was fatally injured. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. An 83-year-old man driving the Toyota was injured and transported to an area hospital. Myers was taken into police custody. At this time, the crash is being investigated.
