Plainville, MA – Child Killed in Crash with Stolen Vehicle on I-495

Plainville, MA (August 27, 2024) – Emergency officials were called to the scene of a motor vehicle accident that took place in the Plainville area and claimed one person’s life. The collision occurred at around 8:30 p.m. on August 24.

Lease reports show that a rear-end collision occurred on Interstate 495 near Route 1. The police and firefighters rushed to the scene and located a Nissan Altima and a stolen Jeep Grand Cherokee blocking the road. Three additional vehicles were involved in the accident. A 10-year-old child involved in the accident was severely injured. The victim was rushed to an area hospital, where they died from their injuries. Three adult victims were transported to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence for emergency medical treatment. Multiple children were transported to Hasbro Children’s Hospital, while one additional critically injured child was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital. A total of seven ambulances responded to the scene. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
